HMP Durham DH1 3HU (covering North East sites)
£30,231 + £525 per additional skill (up to 6, maximum base salary of £33,381)
39 hours | between 08:00–17:00 | 1 in 4 weekends (+15% allowance)
Company van + fuel card + call-out rota

We’re looking for a Mobile Building Engineer to cover prison sites across the North East, based out of HMP Durham.
This is a hands-on role where you’ll be out on the road, working across around 6 sites, keeping buildings safe, compliant and running properly.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Planned and reactive maintenance across multiple sites
- General building maintenance + compliance checks
- Supporting critical systems (fire, water, electrical basics)
- Following site safety and security procedures
- Taking part in on-call + weekend rota
- Acting as Authorised Person (AP) (training provided)
What You’ll Need
- Full UK driving licence
- NVQ / trade qualification (or solid experience)
- Able to work on your own and manage your workload
- Basic understanding of compliance and safety
Experience In Any Of These Is Advantageous
- Fire doors / extinguishers / alarms
- Emergency lighting
- RCD testing
- Water temp checks
