Mobile Building Engineer
HMP Wymott (Leyland, PR26 8LW) & North West Region
£30,231 + £500 per additional skill (up to £33,381.60)
Company Van & Fuel Card Provided
39 hours per week – between 08:00–17:00
1 in 4 weekend rota (+15% allowance)

Looking for a mobile maintenance role with variety, stability, and a company van?
We're recruiting a Mobile Building Engineer to support Ministry of Justice sites mainly across the North West, with HMP Wymott as your main base.
You'll travel between secure sites carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, helping keep buildings safe, compliant, and operational. No two days are the same, and you'll have the backing of a long-term government contract with genuine opportunities to develop new skills and progress your career.

What you'll be doing
- Planned and reactive building maintenance across multiple sites
- Basic compliance checks and statutory maintenance tasks
- Supporting fire safety, emergency lighting, and water hygiene activities
- Working safely within secure environments
- Taking part in an on-call and weekend rota
- Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and compliance
What we're looking for
- Full UK driving licence
- NVQ or equivalent trade qualification in a building, maintenance, or FM discipline
- Experience carrying out planned and reactive maintenance
- Ability to work independently and manage your own workload
- Good health and safety awareness
Experience in any of the following would be beneficial:
- Fire doors
- Emergency lighting
- Fire alarm checks
- Water temperature testing
- RCD testing
- General building maintenance
Prison, MOD, healthcare, education, or other secure environment experience is helpful but not essential.
