Mobile Combustion Engineer
Mobile Combustion Engineer – Midlands (Permanent Full-Time)
Location: Midlands, UK (with focus on Birmingham and Stoke-on-Trent) Contract: Permanent, 40 hrs per week Benefits: Competitive salary, company vehicle, and comprehensive benefits package
About the Role
Equans is seeking a skilled Mobile Combustion Engineer to join our team, delivering technical services across the Midlands. Reporting to our contract administrator, the role involves maintenance, servicing, and repair of gas-related equipment while ensuring compliance and efficient plant performance.
What You Will Deliver
Key Responsibilities

Serve equipment including but not limited to:
- Commercial and domestic boilers
- Associated gas equipment
- Gas fire radiant heaters
- Water heaters
- Control valves

Cover multiple sites within the contract, including locations such as Stoke schools and Guide Dogs facilities.

Maintain and complete all relevant paperwork, including:
- PPI (Pre-Planned Maintenance)
- Reactive/breakdown work reports
- Submission to the contract administrator for approval without delay.

Complete supplementary documentation as instructed by your line manager, including E-Forms.

Update the customer’s CAFM system in real time, documenting:
- Start/await/completion times
- Description of works completed
- Any follow-on work required.

Ensure proactive site management:
- Complete reactive tasks promptly
- Identify and record all plant failures
- Issue quotation forms to your line manager via the CAFM system.

Who Are You?
This role requires a trade-qualified Combustion Engineer with a combination of qualifications, experience, and soft skills. Essential criteria include:
Technical & Licensing Standards
Must hold all relevant industry certifications, including:
- CCN1 – Core Domestic Gas Safety
- COCN1 – Core Commercial Gas Safety
- CPA1 – Combustion Performance Analysis
- Domestic (Natural Gas) certifications (e.g., CENWAT for boilers).
- Commercial/Industrial certificates (e.g., CODNCO1, ICPN1, CIGA1/CDGA1, PICPN1, BMP1, CDGA1).
- C&G Level 3 Plumbing or equivalent.
Experience Requirements
- Trade-qualified Combustion Engineer with post-apprenticeship experience.
- Proven experience in commercial & domestic boiler technologies.
- Proficiency with boilers, controls, and gas systems as outlined above.

- Willingness to undergo a DBS Enhanced with Barred Lists check.
