Mobile Court & Tribunal Security Officer

Mobile Security Officer – multi-site court and tribunal sites

About the Role

Days of Working: This is a mobile, multi-site role, requiring flexibility to support operational needs across Chichester and surrounding sites. Shift patterns will vary depending on site requirements.

As a Mobile Security Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across a group of court and tribunal sites.

  • Provide a professional, welcoming, and customer-focused service to all users
  • Oversee access control while monitoring activity and responding to incidents
  • Ensure the safety of visitors, staff, and service users with dignity and respect

This role requires close collaboration with colleagues and the wider court service to deliver high standards of security and customer service.

Working Hours & Location

  • 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday
  • Daytime role (no night shifts)
  • Based within a defined radius of your core location
  • Shift patterns vary due to operational requirements, with potential for cover duties at nearby sites

Key Responsibilities

  • Flexibility: Support operations across multiple sites within a defined area
  • Access Control: Enforce security procedures and manage building entry
  • Equipment Operation:
    • Run CCTV systems
    • Operate x-ray machines and handheld metal detectors* (where required)
    • Conduct searches as per site procedures
  • Patrolling: Monitor public and restricted areas regularly, maintaining communication with control teams
  • Incident Response:
    • Respond promptly to alarms, security concerns, and emergencies
    • Accurately record and report all incidents and activities
  • Customer Support: Provide a reliable, professional service to all courthouse users
  • Safety & Compliance: Uphold high standards of professionalism and health & safety at all times

Requirements

Essential

  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Enhanced DBS and BS7858 security clearance (contingency on position)
  • Valid SIA Licence with relevant security experience
  • Full UK driving licence and own vehicle availability*
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Demonstrates reliability, professionalism, and attention to detail
  • Ability to adapt to multiple locations and prioritise shifting demands
  • Knowledge of security protocols and health & safety practices
  • Calm, composed demeanour in challenging or emergency scenarios

Desirable

  • Experience in the public sector or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with security systems (e.g., CCTV, screening equipment)

*Notes: Use of own vehicle may be required for remote site coverage; equipment application depends on location.
