Mobile Security Officer

About the Role

This is a mobile, multi-site role, requiring flexibility to support operational needs across Lewes and neighbouring sites. Shift patterns will vary depending on site requirements.

As a Mobile Security Officer, you will play a key role in maintaining a safe, secure, and welcoming environment across a group of court and tribunal sites. Your responsibilities include:

  • Overseeing access control
  • Monitoring activity
  • Responding to incidents while ensuring that all visitors, staff, and service users are supported professionalism and respect.

This role also involves collaborating closely with colleagues and the wider court service to deliver a high standard of security and customer service.

You will work 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, across multiple sites within a defined radius of your core base. Shift patterns may vary depending on operational requirements, and you may be required to provide cover at nearby locations. This is a daytime-only role with no night shifts.


Key Responsibilities

Key responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Providing flexibility to support multiple court and tribunal sites within an operational area.
  • Delivering a professional, welcoming, and customer-focused service to all court users.
  • Controlling access to buildings, ensuring adherence to security procedures at all times.
  • Operating security equipment, including:
    • CCTV
    • X-ray machines
    • Handheld metal detectors
  • Conducting security searches in line with site procedures.
  • Patrolling public and restricted areas, maintaining regular communication with control points.
  • Promptly responding to alarms, incidents, and security concerns.
  • Accurately recording and reporting all incidents and activities.
  • Supporting safe movement of people within the building.
  • Maintaining high standards of professionalism, compliance, and security operational practices at all times.

Requirements

Must-Have Criteria:

  • Right to Work in the UK
  • Ability to pass enhanced DBS and BS7858 security clearance
  • Valid SIA Licence and relevant security experience
  • Full UK driving licence with use of own vehicle (where applicable)
  • Strong communication and customer service skills
  • Professional, reliable, and detail-focused approach
  • Ability to work across multiple locations and adapt to changing priorities
  • Good understanding of security procedures and health & safety practices
  • Ability to remain calm and respond effectively in challenging situations

Desirable Criteria:

  • Experience working in the public sector or regulated environments
  • Familiarity with security systems such as CCTV and screening equipment
