Mobile Critical Power Technician – Critical Power Systems – South UK – £45,000 to £55,000 + Benefits
Location: South UK
Salary: £45,000 to £55,000 + Benefits
Job Type: Permanent, Full Time (42.5 hours per week)
The Opportunity
EVEREC is partnering with a leading UK engineering organisation to recruit an experienced Mobile Critical Power Technician. This is an exciting opportunity to join a growing team responsible for maintaining and preparing critical power equipment that supports a wide range of industries.
Working across the South of the UK, you'll play a key role in ensuring essential power equipment is maintained to the highest standards, providing technical support, fault diagnosis, and repair across a diverse fleet of specialist equipment.
This role would suit an experienced electrical engineer with a background in power generation, critical power, industrial electrical systems, or energy storage who enjoys a varied, hands-on position with excellent long-term career prospects.
Key Responsibilities
Equipment Maintenance & Repair
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM), servicing, and repairs on a range of critical power equipment.
- Diagnose electrical and mechanical faults using specialist test equipment.
- Inspect, test, and certify equipment before dispatch to ensure operational readiness.
- Complete repairs, modifications, and commissioning activities.
- Produce accurate service reports, job sheets, and test documentation.
- Read and interpret electrical schematics and technical drawings.
Technical Support
- Provide technical support and troubleshooting assistance to field engineers where required.
- Assist with fault diagnosis on returned equipment.
- Support operations with identifying replacement parts and maintaining workshop stock levels.
- Assist with loading, unloading, and inspecting equipment before and after hire.

Workshop & Equipment Management
- Work closely with the operations team to prepare equipment for customer projects.
- Maintain workshop tools, calibration equipment, and testing instruments.
- Ensure workshop and equipment storage areas remain clean, organised, and compliant with company standards.
Health & Safety
- Work in accordance with all company Health, Safety, and Environmental procedures.
- Carry out risk assessments and follow safe systems of work.
- Use appropriate PPE at all times.
- Report hazards, defects, and near misses promptly.

About You
We're looking for a proactive engineer who enjoys fault finding, problem solving, and delivering high-quality workmanship.
You will ideally have:
- Previous experience as a Mobile Engineer, Field Service Engineer, Service Engineer, Workshop Engineer, or Maintenance Engineer.
- Experience working within power generation, critical power, industrial electrical systems, or a related engineering environment.
- Strong electrical fault finding skills on complex three-phase systems.
- Experience maintaining one or more of the following:
- Load Banks
- UPS Systems
- Transformers
- Power Distribution Equipment
- Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS)
- Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics.
- Experience using electrical testing equipment including multimeters, clamp meters, and insulation resistance testers.
- Excellent communication and organisational skills.
- A proactive approach to problem solving with strong attention to detail.
- Full UK Driving Licence.

Desirable:
- NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent qualification in an electrical discipline.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations and/or Testing & Inspection qualification (2391).
- Forklift Truck (FLT) Licence.
- Experience working within a workshop or depot environment.
- Knowledge of Health & Safety procedures relating to electrical maintenance and industrial equipment.
