Mobile Dispensing Optician
Mobile Dispensing Optician – ASAP Cover Role (Fixed Term, 1 year)
Description As a Mobile Dispensing Optician, you will work across multiple stores in a defined regional area, providing crucial clinical cover when our on-site teams are unavailable.
About the Role
Our Mobile Dispensing Opticians are key to maintaining exceptional service levels in our stores. You will work closely with a Mobile Optometrist to deliver a smooth, seamless chair-to-dispense patient journey. Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, modeling, and delivering exceptional dispensing care, guiding patients and customers toward appropriate optical and healthcare choices
- Operating flexibly across stores, ensuring you adapt to business needs while continuously upskilling (completing GOC-mandated Continuing Education Training (CET))
- Assessing and advising patients with specialist dispensing needs
- Ensuring complete healthcare solutions for patients while mentoring team members, including Student Dispensing Opticians
- Aligning with Boots Healthcare’s "One Health" philosophy to offer integrated healthcare solutions
- Training and supervising colleagues to meet clinical and operational standards
- Ensuring adherence to clinical policies, SOPs, and regulatory requirements to guarantee legal and safe trading practices
- Participating in store leadership meetings to maintain high standards of patient safety
- Embracing digital tools and introducing them to customers through meaningful conversations

What You’ll Need
The following are essential skills for this role:
- Registered with the General Optical Council (GOC)
- Proven experience in dispensing optometry
- Strong relationship-building skills – you’ll interact with leisure directors, area managers, peers, customers, and external professionals
- Commitment to high clinical standards and patient safety
- A passionate belief in meeting Boots’ Healthcare Ambition to become the first choice for dispensing services
- Motivational drive to own your further training, including fulfilment of GOC CET requirements
- Willingness to travel between stores across the region
