Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified Electrical Engineer to provide comprehensive electrical and mechanical maintenance services for a prestigious office building in central Cambridge. This mobile role requires a proactive professional who can deliver high-quality technical support while maintaining the operational excellence expected in a high-profile commercial environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct planned preventative maintenance on electrical systems including lighting, power distribution, emergency systems, and building services equipment.
- Respond to reactive maintenance requests and electrical faults, diagnosing issues efficiently and implementing effective solutions.
- Utilize mechanical knowledge to support HVAC systems, pumps, motors, and other building plant equipment maintenance.
- Maintain accurate records of all work completed, including test certificates, maintenance logs, and compliance documentation.
- Liaise professionally with building occupants, property management teams, and external contractors as required.
- Ensure compliance with all relevant electrical safety regulations, building codes, and company procedures.
- Participate in emergency response procedures and out-of-hours call-out rota as needed.
- Identify opportunities for system improvements and energy efficiency enhancements.

Essential Requirements
- NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation or equivalent electrical qualification.
- Current 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification (BS 7671).
- Strong mechanical aptitude with experience in building services and plant maintenance.
- Proven experience in commercial building electrical systems and fault-finding.
- Valid UK driving license for mobile working requirements.
- Excellent problem-solving abilities and capacity to work independently.
- Strong communication skills for professional client interaction.
- Flexibility to work occasional evenings or weekends for planned maintenance activities.

Desirable Requirements
- Additional certifications such as PAT testing, emergency lighting, or fire alarm systems.
- Experience with BMS (Building Management Systems) and controls.
- Previous experience in high-profile commercial or corporate environments.
- Mechanical qualifications or demonstrable HVAC knowledge.
