Mobile Electrical Supervisor
What if your next role wasn't replacing someone, but creating something new…
Are you ready to step into a brand-new leadership role where you can raise standards, mentor engineers and shape the future of electrical compliance?
Why Ford Mainwaring?
Ford Mainwaring is a privately owned business with over 45 years of experience in mechanical and electrical installations and maintenance. We are a reputable established business with a strong operational spread across the UK. We provide the full range of facilities management and M&E services including refurbishment and repair, planned maintenance, installation, energy conservation and project design.
As the Electrical Supervisor, you'll play a key role in driving electrical engineering standards across the business, providing technical guidance and support to engineers, ensuring compliance with industry regulations, and carrying out quality audits of engineers, electrical works and documentation. This is a brand-new role created as part of our continued growth and commitment to delivering exceptional standards across our facilities and small works division, giving you the opportunity to shape the role and make a real impact on how we deliver our services.
The role is primarily site/mobile based carrying out planned and reactive maintenance, fault finding, repair and installation, alongside testing/certification, with approximately one day per week carrying out surveys, audits and office-based tasks.
The sites we maintain predominantly include prison estates, but could also include defence sites, highways and infrastructure, and the education sector.
Please note: The hours of work will be 8am – 4.30pm, Monday to Friday, plus a structured overtime package depending on business operational requirements and out of hours on call service rota.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
