Mobile Electrician – Permanent Full-Time Role
Location: Stevenage (covering Stevenage, Hertfordshire, and Watford) Contract: Permanent, Full-Time (40 hours per week) Contractor: HMCTS – Stevenage Magistrates Court
EQUANS are seeking a skilled Mobile Electrician to join our HMCTS contract, supporting low voltage electrical maintenance, installation, and repairs across sites. This permanent full-time role offers a competitive salary and benefits package, including ongoing professional development and an inclusive workplace culture.
About the Role
Equans delivers technical and soft services to HMCTS, including:
- Low voltage electrical maintenance & installation
- Fabric and minor engineering asset upkeep
- Emergency support to ensure operational continuity
Due to business growth, we’re expanding our team and recruiting additional Electricians to maintain high service standards.
Key Responsibilities
Primary Functions

Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Perform routine preventative, predictive, and reactive repairs across all sites.
- Follow Site Task Schedules and CAFM (Computer-Aided FM) systems for documentation.

Technical Compliance & Safety
- Ensure 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671) compliance for all installations and repairs.
- Prepare and adhere to Method Statements & Risk Assessments for all tasks.
- Implement and monitor a Permit-to-Work (PTW) system in line with Equans policies & client requirements.

Fault Diagnosis & Rectification
- Identify, diagnose, and resolve electrical faults independently, including complex issues.
- Develop switching schedules & safety documentation for maintenance shutdowns.

Spare Parts & Documentation
- Maintain accurate parts inventories for maintenance and reactive works.
- Complete CAFM records for all activities (PPM, reactive repairs, inspections).

Subcontractor Oversight
- Supervise and monitor subcontractor works on-site.

Reporting & Continuous Improvement
- Provide detailed technical reports on work carried out.
- Proactively identify efficiency improvements for processes and standards.

Additional Duties
- Emergency Response: Support emergency scenarios to restore services swiftly.
- Technical Authority: Achieve relevant IET Certifications (e.g., LVCP, LVAP, HVAP) to authorise permits for subcontractors.
- Client-Facing Role: Represent Equans professionally and maintain strong relationships with all stakeholders.

Skills, Qualifications & Experience
Essential Qualifications & Experience
✅ NVQ Level 3 in Electrical Installation (minimum) or equivalent (e.g., City & Guilds Technical Certificate). ✅ 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations (BS7671) accredited. ✅ Full & clean UK driving license (essential due to travel to multiple locations).
Desired (but not essential)
🔹 IPAF/MEWPs certification (Negotiable). 🔹 Portable Appliance Testing (PLASMA) experience. 🔹 Prior experience in public sector contracts or HMCTS environments.
