About the Role

The Mobile Engineer (iOS) is responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining high-quality iOS applications that deliver exceptional user experiences. As part of a newly established cross-functional product team, this role collaborates with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers, and fellow Mobile Developers to build innovative mobile solutions, contribute to greenfield projects, and support the organization's modern serverless platform. The ideal candidate is passionate about mobile engineering, software craftsmanship, and continuous improvement.

Location: Leicester, United Kingdom (Hybrid)

Responsibilities

iOS Application Development

  • Design, develop, and maintain high-quality native iOS applications.
  • Build scalable mobile features using modern iOS development practices.
  • Develop clean, maintainable, and reusable code.
  • Deliver intuitive and engaging user experiences.
  • Ensure application performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Support the continuous evolution of the mobile platform.

Software Engineering

  • Write well-structured, testable, and maintainable code.
  • Participate in peer code reviews and technical discussions.
  • Follow established coding standards and architectural guidelines.
  • Implement software solutions that meet functional and non-functional requirements.
  • Maintain comprehensive technical documentation.
  • Contribute to software design and architectural decisions.

Testing & Quality Assurance

  • Develop and maintain unit and UI tests.
  • Ensure software quality using automated testing frameworks.
  • Diagnose and resolve application defects and performance issues.
  • Support continuous integration and continuous deployment pipelines.
  • Validate application releases prior to deployment.
  • Promote engineering best practices throughout the development lifecycle.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Designers, Backend Engineers, and QA teams.
  • Translate business requirements into technical solutions.
  • Participate in Agile planning, estimation, and delivery activities.
  • Contribute to the Mobile Community of Practice.
  • Share technical knowledge and mentor junior developers.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to improve product quality and user experience.

Cloud & Platform Engineering

  • Develop applications that integrate with cloud-native services.
  • Support server-driven UI implementations.
  • Contribute to serverless application development on AWS.
  • Maintain CI/CD workflows using GitHub Actions.
  • Support application analytics, monitoring, and performance optimization.
  • Contribute to continuous platform improvements.

Innovation & Continuous Improvement

  • Stay current with emerging mobile technologies and industry trends.
  • Recommend improvements to development processes and engineering practices.
  • Promote a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Evaluate new tools and frameworks that enhance product quality.
  • Support greenfield product initiatives.
  • Contribute to the long-term evolution of the mobile platform.

Requirements

Required Qualifications

  • Strong professional experience developing native iOS applications.
  • Advanced proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI.
  • Experience with UIKit, Storyboards, and Swift Packages.
  • Experience implementing unit testing using XCTest.
  • Experience with TestFlight for application testing and distribution.
  • Proficiency with GitHub and GitHub Actions for version control and CI/CD.
  • Experience with Kotlin Multiplatform Mobile (KMM).
  • Knowledge of server-driven UI architectures.
  • Experience integrating cloud technologies, including AWS serverless services.
  • Experience with Firebase Crashlytics, Braze, Amplitude, and Stripe integrations.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture, testing, and mobile engineering best practices.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to mentor junior developers and work effectively within cross-functional Agile teams.
