Mobile Plant Fitter
Mobile Plant Fitter – National Plant Hire Company
We are recruiting for a skilled Mobile Plant Fitter to join our team as part of a leading national plant hire company.
About the Role
The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintenance, inspection, and repair of a wide range of mobile plant and heavy equipment across multiple sites. This is a field-based role requiring strong technical ability, problem-solving skills, and the ability to work independently.
Key Responsibilities
- Service, inspect, and maintain mobile plant equipment
- Diagnose and repair mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults
- Attend on-site breakdowns to minimise equipment downtime
- Work on equipment such as excavators, loaders, dump trucks, and forklifts
- Complete job cards, reports, and maintenance records accurately
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations
- Carry out pre-start checks and routine inspections
- Liaise with site teams regarding repairs and equipment status

Requirements
- Proven experience as a Mobile Plant Fitter or similar role
- Strong knowledge of hydraulics, diesel engines, and electrical systems
- Experience with heavy mobile equipment (construction, quarrying, or industrial sectors)
- NVQ in Land-Based Engineering or Plant Maintenance (or equivalent qualification)
- Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills
- Valid driver’s licence
- Willingness to travel and work on-site

Working Conditions
- Field-based role across multiple sites
- Overtime may be required, including call-outs and weekend work
- Overtime is paid at 1.5x flat rate after 52.5 hours worked per week
