Job Description
United Infrastructure Transmission & Distribution are recruiting for a hybrid/mobile Plant Fitter. This is a full-time, permanent position. In this role you would be required to be based at Darlington, County Durham for a minimum of 24 weeks for familiarisation and training. Thereafter you would operate independently. This lead-in period is essential to ensure they are fully aligned with our operational standards and procedures. UK travel is also required in the role.
As a UK-wide operation, you will work as part of a team who are responsible for the Planning & Control of Servicing. This will include the day-to-day repairs of HGV and varied fleet equipment as well as the planned maintenance of Specialised Overhead Line Winching & Tensioning Machinery.
What You Will Do
- Carry out mechanical maintenance and repairs on specialist OHL plant & Equipment including winches, Puller/tensioners Tractors HGVs and other specialist plant and equipment.
- Support mobilisation and demobilisation of plant for OHL projects.
- Conduct pre-use inspections, fault finding, and routine servicing of mechanical systems.
- Carry out preventative maintenance and scheduled servicing in line with manufacturer and company standards.
- Ensure all repair work is completed safely, efficiently, and to a high standard.
- Maintain accurate service and repair records in compliance with company procedures.
- Work on-site to attend breakdowns and perform emergency repairs when required.
- Order and fit replacement parts, ensuring cost-effective and timely repairs.
- Adhere to all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations.
- Communicate effectively with the workshop team, supervisors, and site managers regarding job progress and issues with plant and equipment.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to maintaining a clean and organised working environment.

- Time served Fitter, holding recognised qualifications with a Dealership or Company that relates to Roles/Duties e.g. Tractor Dealership/ Plant/Transport Dealership / Relevant Construction Company
- HGV Class 2 license (Class 1 Desirable).
- CITB / CPCS or recognised equivalent Lorry Loader certificate desirable
- Digital Tachograph Card desirable.
- Strap & Chains – Loads must be fully competent
- Fork-Lift / Telehandler License desirable
