Mobile Service Engineer - Bristol
Field Technician - Distribution Tractors & Aircraft GSE
Reports to: Field Operations Manager
Purpose of the Role
Performs servicing, inspections, and repairs for Distribution Tractors, Ro-Ro Tractors, sea port equipment, Aircraft Equipment (GSE Only), and other manufacturer products on customer premises when requested. Conducts visual or operational checks to identify worn, dirty, or maladjusted parts, applies diagnostics and manufactures' manuals, and repairs defective systems using test equipment. Undertakes inspections of accident-damaged machinery, writes detailed reports, and operates independently while adhering to all Company and site Health & Safety requirements.
Responsibilities
- Act as a professional representative of the Terberg DTS Service Department, upholding high standards of appearance, behaviour, and technical competence.
- Perform assigned tasks via verbal or electronic instructions issued by the Service Department, assessing tools, techniques, and safety protocols.
- Secure customer approval for repairs, including signatures and purchase order logs.
- Maintain inventory accuracy for vehicle parts and equipment.
- Ensure repairs comply with manufacturer specifications and Company Safe System of Work procedures.
- Adhere strictly to Terberg DTS Health & Safety Policy, ensuring colleagues and work environments remain compliant.
- Attend all mandatory training courses.
- Preserve all company assets (vehicles, equipment) and observe mobile phone use legislation.
- Collaborate cross-departmentally, with flexibility to work beyond standard hours or unsociable hours if required (including remote or after-hours call-outs).
- Go where work is needed—customers’ sites—and complete tasks to schedule.

Critical Knowledge Required
- UK road traffic laws (speed, weight restrictions, driver hour limits).
- Thorough preventative maintenance precision aligned with manufacturer/greenfield standards.
- Technology specific knowledge: Testing diagnostic systems, Terberg Tug handlers, and Service Task Manuals.

Qualifications & Experience Requirements
- City & Guilds Level 3 – Vehicle Mechanical & Electronic Systems Maintenance & Repair Qualification or equivalent.
- Proven expertise in auto-electric fault diagnosis, electronic diagnostics, and repairs across heavy goods/avionics & specialist vehicles.
- Valid UK driving licence.
