Volunteer for a startup empowering heroes with chronic conditions ❤️
MiMIAT Health offers a multilingual app (iOS & Android), already live across Europe and Kenya, that enables patients to track symptoms, diet, weight, and stool. Soon, they’ll also integrate wearables and upload clinical records, building a unified, patient-owned health timeline.
Chronic disease management today remains highly fragmented, inequitable, and provider-centric, leaving millions without continuous care, especially in low-resource or high-mobility settings. Patients often lose ownership of their own health data, resulting in reactive instead of proactive care, late interventions and detections of flare ups, and preventable hospitalizations.
89% of chronic patients fail to consistently track their condition due to fragmented, manual, or incomplete tools, and 71% of doctors report that disconnected apps and records create gaps in delivering personalized care.
In many regions, patients without smartphones or stable internet access are further excluded from digital health innovation.
MiMIAT Health addresses these challenges by creating a unified, patient-driven platform for structured health data aggregation, with mobile and SMS-based accessibility. We tackle the systemic inequities of chronic care access, digital inclusion, and health data sovereignty, aligning with SDG 3: Good Health & Well-Being.
MiMIAT Health is a digital health platform offering a free mobile app (iOS and Android) available in five languages, enabling patients to self-track key health metrics, and soon connect medical devices, and upload clinical documents — building their own continuous health record. By Q4 2025, we are also set to launch SMS-based access to reach digitally underserved populations.
Healthcare providers, with patient consent — particularly in primary and secondary care — can access this real-time data through our web platform, allowing earlier interventions and more proactive care. We offer both our standalone platform and EHR integration, ensuring no provider is left behind and enabling faster, more personalized patient interventions.
We would like you to join our mission, and to see your impact on real people and their families, on real stories, and to feel equally part of MiMIAT's family!

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Role Description
We’re looking for a Mobile UX/UI Product Designer to join us as a changemaker and help improve the patient-facing MiMIAT mobile app.
This is a project-based volunteer collaboration, ideal for someone who wants to use their design skills to contribute to a real healthtech product with social impact. This role is not focused on generic branding, social media visuals, or simple website design. We are looking for someone who can work on mobile app UX/UI, patient-facing flows, Figma components, interaction states, and developer-ready handoff.
You’ll help shape the experience of a mobile app used by chronic patients to track symptoms, diet, stool patterns, weight, medication-related signals, and patient-controlled data sharing with clinicians.
The goal is to make the app clearer, calmer, more accessible, and easier to use for patients who may be dealing with symptoms, stress, low health literacy, or language barriers.
🎨 What you’ll do
- Review and improve existing mobile app flows, especially onboarding, symptom tracking, data entry, patient invitations, consent, and data sharing.
- Design mobile-first screens and user flows for iOS and Android using Figma.
- Improve visual consistency across the patient app, including layout, spacing, typography, components, states, and interaction patterns.
- Help build and maintain a lightweight mobile design system for the patient app.
- Prepare clear design handoff for frontend developers, including components, specs, assets, empty states, error states, loading states, and interaction notes.
- Collaborate with the Founder, frontend developers, and QA to iterate based on product needs, technical constraints, and user feedback.
- Support accessibility and inclusive design for multilingual users and patients with different levels of digital or health literacy.
- Help MiMIAT create a mobile experience that feels trustworthy, simple, and clinically serious without becoming cold or overwhelming.
👤 Who are you?
- You are a changemaker who wants to apply design to something meaningful in healthcare.
- You have experience designing mobile apps or strong portfolio work focused on mobile UX/UI.
- You are confident using Figma for wireframes, UI design, components, variants, prototypes, and handoff.
- You understand iOS and Android design patterns, mobile layouts, interaction flows, and responsive constraints.
- You can turn complex requirements into simple, usable patient-facing screens.
- You care about accessibility, clarity, inclusive design, and low-friction user experiences.
- You are comfortable collaborating with developers and adapting designs based on technical feedback.
- You can work independently, communicate clearly, and stay reliable in a remote, project-based team.
- You have a portfolio, case studies, Figma files, app screens, prototypes, or product samples that show your UX/UI design work.

- Basic understanding of design constraints in Tailwind / NativeWind-style component systems.
- Experience designing multilingual products, accessibility-focused products, or low-friction onboarding.
- Interest in healthtech, chronic care, patient empowerment, or inclusive digital health.
- Experience designing dashboards, tracking flows, empty states, consent flows, or health-data visualizations.
🌱 What we offer
- An opportunity to contribute to a real healthtech product already live on iOS and Android.
- Flexible hours and fully remote collaboration with an international team.
- Direct collaboration with the Founder & CEO and the product/frontend team.
- A meaningful portfolio case at the intersection of mobile UX, digital health, patient data, and chronic care.
- A focused project-based collaboration where your work can directly shape the patient app experience.
- The chance to join a mission-driven team using technology to improve continuity, dignity, and access in chronic care.
📩 How to apply
Send us your portfolio, Figma samples, mobile app screens, case studies, prototypes, or links to products you’ve worked on.
