Mobile Vehicle Technician – Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) Division
Location: Bristol cluster – covering Bristol (City Centre & Suburbs), Portishead, Clevedon, Filton, Patchway, Yate, Keynsham

The Role: A Different Kind of RAC Experience
The RAC is synonymous with roadside rescue—but this is SMR, a wholly different way of working.
Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division offers planned, structured repairs delivered to members on their terms—from driveways, car parks, or even at work. No reactive callouts; no unpredictable shift patterns; no temporary fixes.
Instead, you’ll:
- Work through a scheduled, pre-booked list of appointments with predictable timing and minimal interruption
- Use RAC’s advanced diagnostics & tools to carry out:
- Routine servicing
- In-depth repairs (equivalent to what you’d do in a workshop)
- Vehicle safety checks
- Provide clear, member-focused advice based on inspections—as part of the RAC—as trusted advisors
You’ll bring technical expertise and independence to a role where every job counts, with the support and documentation needed to deliver top-tier service efficiently.
What You’ll Actually Do

Who Can Apply?
Requirements
- Level 2 Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician (light vehicle focus preferred)
- Full UK driving licence (with 6 or fewer penalty points)
- Willingness to travel locally in Bristol/South West areas
