Mobile Vehicle Technician - Leicester
Join the RAC as a Mobile Vehicle Technician in our SMR Division
A competitive base salary of £40,178, with on-target earnings of up to £52,000
- Guaranteed overtime option to increase base salary
- Additional overtime and bonus opportunities
- 40 hours per week (core hours: 8:30 AM – 5:00 PM, with 1 in 4 Saturdays)

The RAC is known for roadside rescue—but this isn’t that.
Our Service, Maintenance & Repair (SMR) division is a newer, fast-growing part of the RAC, delivering planned, structured repair and servicing directly to members—from their driveway to their workplace car park.
- No emergency callouts
- No unpredictable shift patterns
- No roadside recoveries
Instead, you’ll work through a scheduled list of jobs, with the time, tools, and support needed to deliver quality work.
Where You’ll Work
You’ll cover areas including Leicester, Oadby, Wigston, Hinckley, Melton Mowbray, Market Harborough, and Loughborough. This is a scheduled mobile role, meaning:
- Pre-booked appointments – no reactive callouts
- Clear, digital schedules for each day
- In-depth work including servicing, diagnostics, repairs, and member advice
No streetwear and breakdowns—just organised work to be completed properly.

Your day begins with a structure you can rely on:
- Routine servicing & diagnostics (using advanced mobile equipment)
- In-depth repairs (similar to workshop standards)
- Member safety checks aligned with RAC standards
- Personalised advice tailored to driver needs

What You’ll Need
To join as a Mobile Vehicle Technician, you must have:
- Level 2 qualification in Light Vehicle Maintenance (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2 years’ experience as a vehicle technician on light vehicles
- A full UK driving licence (with fewer than 6 penalty points)

- Market-competitive base salary: £40,170 (with potential to exceed £52,000 via bonuses and premium overtime)
