Modeling Engineer (Mid-Level or Senior)

💷 Salary between £75,000 - £90,000 - based on experience and relevance to the role

5V Tech are working with a fast-scaling AI hardware company building a new class of AI accelerator, designed to run the world's largest language models dramatically faster than existing systems. They work at the intersection of cutting-edge hardware and software, with modern offices in central London.
As part of their Simulation and Modelling team, they're now looking for a Modelling Engineer to build the high-fidelity pre-silicon models that shape the company's architecture, performance, and product design long before hardware exists. This isn't a support function, it's the group that defines how the hardware behaves.

What you'll be working on:
- Developing pre-silicon models of AI acceleration hardware
- Architectural exploration and definition
- Functional modelling
- Performance modelling and bottleneck analysis
- Early software development on virtual platforms
- Working closely with hardware, software, and ML teams in a true hardware/software co-design loop
What they're looking for:
- Experience with pre-silicon modelling of complex semiconductor IP
- SystemC or equivalent modelling frameworks
- C++ for high-performance simulation
- Performance modelling and architectural analysis
- Verification and functional modelling
- Ability to operate across architecture, performance, and functional correctness

Bonus points:
- Experience with ML workloads or ML accelerator architectures
- Prior startup or small-team experience
