Modern Matron – Outpatients (Nursing & Allied Health Professionals) – University Hospitals Coventry and Warwickshire NHS Trust
About the Role
A credible senior leader with managerial responsibility for both nursing and allied health professionals within Outpatients, ensuring services are responsive to patient needs. Working as a visible lead within the group management structure, this role requires:
- Demonstrating collaborative working within and across the Multidisciplinary Team (MDT)
- Creating best experiences and opportunities for staff, helping them develop into local, national, and international healthcare leaders with the patient always at the centre.

The Matron’s role is centred around the 10 key responsibilities outlined in the Matrons Handbook (2019)**:
- Inclusive leadership, professional standards, and accountability
- Governance, patient safety, and quality assurance
- Workforce planning and resource management
- Patient experience and reducing health inequalities
- Performance and operational oversight
- Digital and information technology integration
- Education, training, and development across the team
- Research and development support within the organisation
- Collaborative working and clinical effectiveness
- Service improvement and transformation
