About the Role
Tata Technologies transforms automotive and industrial product development dreams into reality by innovating in design, engineering, and validation for global manufacturers. Our Engineering Research and Development (ER&D) department—specializing in Automotive, Aerospace, and Industrial Heavy Machinery—seeks a Module Leader for HEV/PHEV Exhaust Systems to join our growing team. This remote/hybrid role is based at Jaguar Land Rover’s site in Gaydon, with occasional travel for program engagement.
As the Exhaust Systems Subject Matter Expert, you will lead end-to-end development for hybrid powertrains, collaborating across vehicle systems to meet technical, regulatory, and business targets.
Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership
- Act as the SME for HEV/PHEV exhaust systems, delivering design, development, integration, validation, and compliance for full exhaust solutions.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Engage with propulsion, calibration, NVH, thermal, and manufacturing teams to align exhaust systems with vehicle architecture.
- Lead Supplier and Staff Engineer coordination for component delivery, cost optimization, and schedule compliance.
Design and Validation
- Define and iterate exhaust system designs, including:
- Manifold interfaces
- Catalytic converters & GPF/DPF systems
- Mufflers, resonators, tailpipes
- Exhaust valves, brackets, and heat shields
- Thermal protective systems
- Ensure compliance with global emissions (or regulatory), NVH, and durability standards (e.g., Euro 6d, California CARB).
- Conduct root cause analysis for failures in emissions, acoustics, durability, or production issues.
Process-Ownership
- Manage requirements management (DVP&R) and DFMEA activities.
- Lead design reviews, maturity assessments, and transactional sign-offs.
- Monitor thermal management, underbody packaging, and outskirts integration during vehicle development.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
