Description
Are you ready to take your career to the next level in a role where attention to detail, problem-solving, customer interaction meet? We're seeking a MOJ Credit Hire File Handler to join our growing team.
This is a unique opportunity to join a market leading team who deal with credit hire claims in the MOJ & OIC portal.
The purpose of the role is to handle a caseload of portal claims from initial notification and be responsible for assessing liability, personal injury and credit hire with the aim to achieving the best settlement outcome for our client’s whilst adopting a tactical and strategic approach against a specific opponent.
Key Accountabilities
- The File Handler will handle a caseload of portal claims. In addition, they will also handle liability disputed claims on a pre-litigation basis that subsequently drop from the portal. They will perform specific delegated tasks within a supervised environment.
- Making initial investigations and liaising with the Insured, Insurer and Third Party solicitors as to liability and making an appropriate assessment.
- Undertake discussions and negotiations with Insured, Insurer and Third Party Solicitors to pursue the rapid and appropriate settlement of cases and the apportionment of costs.
- If relevant, drafting Court documentation and instructing Counsel as appropriate.
- Timely and accurate maintenance of all case management, billing and management information systems to ensure completeness of records and aid business decision making.
- Dealing with correspondence and telephone calls.
- Undertaking periodic reviews of files in line with Client requirements.
- Meeting agreed performance targets.
- Ensuring files are kept within ISO 9001 guidelines.
- Provide written updates by email or letter to clients detailing case activity to ensure that they receive up to date and accurate information about progress when requested.
- To ensure compliance with the SRA Standards & Regulations.

Working Hours
- 35 hours per week worked 9am and 5pm Mondays to Fridays inclusive with 1 hour for lunch.
Experience, Skills and Qualifications
- Credit hire experience either defendant (preferable) or claimant.
- Previous experience of handling own caseload.
- Good standard of education – 3 GCSE’s grade C or above or equivalent including Maths & English as a minimum.
- Good telephone negotiation skills.
- Have an understanding of portal process.
- Ability to use own initiative and make decisions.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Ability to plan and prioritise workloads and remain calm under pressure, whilst complying with deadlines.
- Excellent listening and verbal communication skills.
- Excellent client care skills.
- Ability to analyse data to inform strategy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
