Job Description

Monmouthshire County Council have an exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified professional to join the Heritage Team within the Council’s Planning Service. The Heritage Team are part of the Development Management Service and provide all aspects of Heritage advice across the County.

The Heritage Team deal with all aspects of the historic environment including processing pre-application enquiries, Listed Building Consent applications, Conservation Area Consent applications, advising on planning applications in historically important areas, serving formal notices, pro-actively managing the Buildings at Risk Register and overall Management of the Historic Environment in Monmouthshire.

Working directly within the Development Management Team the post holder will be expected to provide specialist advice on heritage and design issues for planning, listed buildings and conservation area proposals at all stages of the planning process. The post holder will be expected to act as the case officer for Heritage pre-application submissions, Listed Building Consent and Conservation Area Consent applications and provide advice in all other aspects.

The postholder will have a degree in a relevant conservation related field (Planning, Architecture, Building Conservation) with previous experience working in a Local Planning Authority or similar direct work related to listed buildings. Full membership of the IHBC is desirable.
