Mortgage Business Assessor – Advice Quality Team

About the Role

Are you passionate about raising advice standards and ensuring great customer outcomes? As a Mortgage Business Assessor within our Advice Quality Team, you’ll play a key role in safeguarding the quality, suitability, and compliance of advice delivered across our Mortgage, Protection, and Owl business lines.

This is an opportunity to use your expertise to:

  • Influence adviser behaviour
  • Support continuous improvement
  • Help shape the future of advice across the Openwork network

This is a 12-month Fixed Term Contract, a hybrid role based in our Swindon office, with a requirement to be in the office three days a week.


The Benefits

  • Salary: Up to £32,000
  • Bonus Scheme: On-target bonus of 7.5%

What You’ll Be Doing

  • File Reviews & Compliance:
    • Review client files against agreed criteria, applying Insight checklists to ensure advice is suitable, compliant, and clearly documented.
    • Conduct and record assessments with accuracy, fairness, and consistency.

  • Error Identification & Escalation:

    • Spot errors, discrepancies, or concerns and escalate where needed.
    • Take ownership of potential breaches/rejects and make confident, timely decisions.
  • Quality Improvement & Trend Analysis:

    • Identify advisory trends and contribute to ongoing quality enhancements.
    • Collaborate with Operations, Distribution, and Compliance to elevate advice standards.
  • Team Collaboration:

    • Build strong relationships with advisers, supervisors, and internal teams.
    • Provide clear, courteous, and consistent support to both colleagues and clients.
  • Performance Targets:

    • Meet daily/weekly SLAs (case checks, peer reviews, deadlines).
    • Maintain calmness and resilience under pressure.

What You’ll Bring

Professional Experience & Knowledge

  • CeMap Qualification essential
  • Extensive financial services experience, ideally with supervisory/oversight responsibilities
  • Experience in business assessment or file-checking roles
  • Strong understanding of ICOB, MCOB, TCF, Data Protection, and Financial Crime requirements
  • (Highly advantageous) Previous experience within Openwork or an AR network
