Role Overview

As an MOT Tester, you will play a crucial role in ensuring vehicles meet the required safety and environmental standards by conducting thorough inspections in accordance with UK legislation. Your expertise and attention to detail will help us maintain our reputation for excellence while contributing to road safety in the community.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct MOT inspections on a wide range of vehicles, ensuring compliance with DVSA standards and regulations.
  • Identify and accurately report any faults or defects found during inspections, providing clear and professional feedback to customers.
  • Complete all necessary documentation and submit MOT certificates electronically in a timely manner.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of MOT testing procedures, DVSA guidelines, and relevant legislation.
  • Ensure all testing equipment and tools are properly maintained and calibrated.
  • Deliver exceptional customer service by answering queries and advising customers on repairs or maintenance where appropriate.
  • Work collaboratively with the service team to support workshop efficiency and customer satisfaction.
  • Adhere to health and safety policies to maintain a safe working environment.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Current valid MOT Tester qualification recognised by the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA).
  • Proven experience in conducting MOT tests within a professional garage or dealership environment.
  • Strong understanding of vehicle mechanics and systems, including brakes, suspension, steering, and emissions.
  • Excellent attention to detail, with the ability to accurately identify defects and faults.
  • Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a busy workshop setting.
  • Basic IT skills for inputting data and managing electronic MOT certificates.
  • A commitment to ongoing professional development and staying updated with industry changes.
