The Role
BDElite are looking to recruit an additional member to our specialist ULR Claims team. The role is to proactively manage and recover uninsured losses on behalf of clients involved in non-fault motor accidents. The role involves investigating liability, pursuing recovery of losses from third-party insurers, negotiating settlements, and delivering excellent customer service throughout the claims journey. The individual will manage cases from initial instruction through to settlement, ensuring recoveries are maximised while maintaining SLA’s and compliance with regulatory and company standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
ULR Claims Management
- Manage a caseload of uninsured loss recovery claims from inception through to settlement.
- Pursue recovery of uninsured losses including:
- Policy excesses
- Loss of earnings
- Vehicle damage costs
- Personal property damage
- Travel expenses
- Other out-of-pocket expenses
- Review claim documentation and establish the validity and recoverability of losses.
- Obtain and assess supporting evidence including invoices, receipts, wage loss documentation, medical expenses, policy excesses, and repair costs.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date claim records on internal systems.
- Ensure all claims are progressed efficiently and within service level agreements.
- Contribute to the overall performance of the Claims Department by providing cross-functional support during periods of demand, assisting colleagues with claim handling responsibilities to maintain operational efficiency and service standards.

Liability and Recovery
- Assess liability using available evidence including accident reports, witness statements, photographs, dashcam footage, and insurer correspondence.
- Pursue recovery of uninsured losses from third-party insurers and responsible parties.
- Challenge liability disputes and negotiate favorable outcomes for clients.
- Monitor and manage recovery opportunities to maximise settlement values.
- Identify cases requiring escalation and referral for litigation where appropriate.
Customer Service
- Act as the primary point of contact for customers throughout the recovery process.
- Provide excellent customer service throughout the claims journey.
- Keep customers informed of claim progress and recovery prospects.
- Provide clear and professional updates on claim progression.
- Explain recovery prospects, liability decisions, and settlement offers in a straightforward manner.
- Manage customer expectations and resolve queries promptly.
- Respond to customer enquiries in a professional and timely manner
Negotiation and Settlement
- Negotiate settlements with third-party insurers and representatives.
- Challenge liability disputes and quantum disagreements.
- Review and validate settlement offers.
- Ensure settlements are agreed in accordance with company authority levels and procedures.
- Facilitate prompt payment of recovered funds to customers.
Additional Responsibilities
- Provide support to the wider Claims Department during periods of increased workload, assisting with claim handling activities and operational priorities as required.
- Participate in departmental projects, process improvement initiatives, and business change activities.
- Undertake any other reasonable duties commensurate with the level and nature of the role as directed by management.
Training
- To undergo training in the BDElite Internal Business Development Department.
- Willingness to progress towards further relevant professional qualifications.
- Undertake any other duties reasonably required as deemed appropriate.
Compliance and Quality
- Ensure compliance with FCA regulations, company policies, and industry best practice.
- Adhere to data protection requirements and confidentiality standards.
- Maintain high levels of file quality and documentation.
- Contribute to audit requirements and quality assurance reviews.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
Essential
- Previous experience handling motor claims, uninsured loss recovery claims, or liability claims (minimum 2 years experience).
- Understanding of motor insurance principles and claims processes.
- Strong negotiation and communication skills.
- Ability to assess liability and interpret supporting evidence.
- Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage a busy caseload.
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
- Customer-focused approach with excellent telephone and written communication skills.
- Competent IT skills and experience using claims management systems.
Desirable
- Experience in uninsured loss recovery or pre-litigation claims handling.
- Knowledge of the Civil Procedure Rules and pre-action protocols.
- Experience working within FCA-regulated environments.
- Industry qualifications such as CII Certificate in Insurance.
