Role Description

The Motorcycle Instructor role is a full-time, on-site position based in the Bristol / Bath, United Kingdom. The instructor will deliver motorcycle licence training and associated courses, including introductory sessions for new riders and advanced instruction for experienced riders. The role involves ensuring all training complies with relevant safety standards and regulatory requirements, maintaining training bikes and equipment in good working order, and completing necessary documentation and learner records. The instructor will also support learners’ confidence and wellbeing, collaborate with colleagues to continuously improve course content, and represent Phoenix Motorcycle Training in a professional manner.

Qualifications

  • Strong instructional and coaching skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly and adapt teaching style to different learning needs.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build trust, motivate learners, and provide supportive, constructive feedback.
  • Proven motorcycle riding proficiency with a full, clean motorcycle licence and a strong focus on safe, responsible riding practices, held for at least 3 years.
  • Sound knowledge of UK road rules, motorcycle training standards, and relevant safety regulations.
  • Ability to manage groups and individual learners effectively, including lesson planning, time management, and learner progress tracking.
  • Experience in a teaching, coaching, or training role (formal instructor qualifications or DVSA-related certifications are highly beneficial but not essential, as full training is given).
  • Commitment to health and safety, risk assessment, and promoting a positive learning environment that supports rider wellbeing.
  • Flexibility to work across different course types and schedules, including weekends or peak training periods as required.
  • Professional attitude, reliability, and willingness to participate in ongoing training and development.
