Moving and Handling Advisor

Moving & Handling Ergonomics Advisor – Grade 9 (Full-Time, Permanent)

About the Team

Join our small, dynamic, and innovative Moving & Handling Ergonomics team! We specialise in supporting adult care providers across Kirklees, including Council and independent sector services.

Our focus is on promoting excellence in moving and handling, ensuring safer, more efficient practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct complex risk assessments across varied settings, including:
    • Service users’ homes
    • Residential establishments
    • Hospital wards
  • Collaborate with service users, care providers, and professionals to design effective moving and handling solutions
  • Provide ergonomic interventions, such as:
    • Recommending assistive devices
    • Designing safer, efficient systems of work
  • Deliver formal training courses to improve moving and handling skills
  • Advise on best practices for safe, efficient care delivery

You’ll combine technical expertise with herbal coaching and encouragement to empower care teams.


The Person

We’re looking for an innovative, resilient, and self-driven professional with:

  • Relevant experience in moving and handling
  • Desirably, a qualification in the field (not mandatory but encouraged)
  • A strong drive to improve your own and others’ skills through personal development
  • Flexibility to adapt to diverse working conditions
