#### Acute Stroke Team – Multi-Profession Rehabilitation Assistant (MPRA)
Fixed-term/Secondment Position – 8 Months

About the Role
North Wales and Betsi Cadwaladr University Health Board (BCUHB) continue to enhance their stroke services, offering an exciting opportunity to join the Acute Stroke Team as a Multi-Profession Rehabilitation Assistant (MPRA).
Through a comprehensive training programme, participants will develop essential skills to collaborate with:
- Physiotherapists
- Occupational therapists
- Speech and language therapists
- Dietitians
You’ll play a vital role in supporting and enhancing rehabilitation for individuals recovering from stroke, through:
- A holistic, holistic patient-centred approach
- Multi-disciplinary care delivery
- Continuous professional development
Ideal candidates will:
- Be passionate about neurological rehabilitation and empowering change
- Demonstrate self-motivation, compassion, and adaptability
- Have a desire to learn and thrive in a dynamic rehabilitation setting
- Bring prior experience in healthcare therapy environments
Proficient electronic documentation skills are a must.

Duties include (but are not limited to):
- Delivering therapy programmes under qualified therapist supervision
- Supporting daily rehabilitation and acute care in compliance with national standards
- Conducting individual therapy sessions
- Collecting and updating data for stroke service audits ( including Sentinel Stroke National Audit electronic database)
- Supporting regional stroke service development
- Providing support to The ESD and Rehab services across:
- Glan Clwyd Hospital (primary base)
- Conwy
- Denbighshire (as required by service demand)
⭐ Desirable: Ability to speak Welsh; applicants fluent in either language are welcome.

Person Specification
Experience (Essential Criteria)
✔ Relevant experience in a therapy healthcare environment ✔ Demonstrated ability to promote independence and its impact on health & well-being ✔ Understanding of the clinical roles of occupational, physiotherapy, speech-language, or dietary therapy ✔ In-depth knowledge of stroke rehabilitation and recovery principles ✔ Familiarity with main stroke-related conditions and their functional effects ✔ Prior experience within an NHS setting
Desirable Criteria
🔹 Previous experience working with stroke survivors
Qualifications (Essential Criteria)
✔ Must hold a Quality Credit Framework qualification at Level 3 (e.g., NVQ or OCN in Health & Social Care) or equivalent competence ✔ Documented evidence of training engagement ✔ Proven practical experience at diploma-equivalent clinical level ✔ Literacy and numeracy skills to at least GCSE Grade C (equivalent) in English
Desirable Criteria
🔹 Membership of a professional therapy body 🔹 Level 4 qualification in a relevant clinical specialty
