Job Description

Fed up with giving hours back for travel?

Does your employer expect you to give back hours each day for travel? Half an hour each way might not seem like a lot, but over a 12-month period, that’s 260 hours of pay that you’re missing out on! Sherwoods pays all our field engineers for door-to-door travel, so you’ll be paid for all the hours you put in.

What you’ll be doing

As part of a team of 9 Multi-Skilled Carpenters, you'll always have the support you need. Your role will ensure the client's satisfaction through planned maintenance, emergency reactive calls, and project work. As a reactive facilities maintenance business, every day is unique. While we strive to keep you close to home, you'll have the opportunity to explore parts of the South West you may not have seen before. We'll provide you with a van and fuel card for your travels, and our industry-leading software will help you manage your workload effectively.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.

What you’ll need

You’ll be a time-served or qualified carpenter who has previously worked in a field-based multi-site maintenance role, and you’ll have experience with a range of building-related tasks, including general carpentry, repairs to doors, tiling, plastering, and roofing. You’ll be passionate about delivering a first-class service, whatever the challenges. Some sectors we work in involve close contact with vulnerable or young people, so you'll be subject to an enhanced DBS check. You will also need a full UK driving license.
