Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer – Bridgend, Wales

Location: Bridgend, Wales Salary: £45,657 per annum Hours: 40 hours per week, Monday – Friday Working pattern: 3-week shift rotation

  • Week 1: Mon – Fri, 6am – 2pm
  • Week 2: Mon – Fri, 2pm – 10pm
  • Week 3: Mon – Thurs, 8pm – 6am

About the Role

We’re seeking a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our highly skilled Engineering Team in Bridgend. This position delivers the perfect blend of engineering pride and progress opportunity—ensuring the seamless operation of our robust manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain zero-downtime production by conducting fault diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on plant and machinery.
  • Work with complex systems, including:
    • Hydraulic, pneumatic, and electrical/electronic controls
  • Responsibility for plan and reactive maintenance, adherence to safety, waste reduction, and OEE targets.
  • Chamber of Ergonomic Safety: Contribute to a culture that prioritises workplace safety and operational excellence.
  • Collaborate with operatives, Technicians, and team leaders to resolve maintenance issues and optimise equipment performance.
  • Aid in process honesty & accountability through clear reporting on plant condition and risk assessments.

Requirements & Qualifications

To be considered for this role, we require the following:

  • Industry-relevant apprenticeship, trade qualifications, or equivalent time-served experience in a Mechanical/Electrical Maintenance role, including recent hands-on practice.
  • Proven ability in fault-finding and defect rectification on industrial machinery.
  • Advanced competency with maintenance and PPM (Planned Preventative Maintenance) strategies.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical/mechanical systems, including a problem-solving mindset for:
    • Hydraulic (e.g., pumps, cylinders, pressure Controls)
    • Pneumatic assemblies & Electronic control technologies
  • Excellent communication skills (peer & supervisor-level) with a:
    • Practical, no-go attitude to electrical safety.
  • Understanding of OHSAS, Environmental/Regulatory compliance and the role of industrial assessments in efficient plant management.
  • Welding/Fabrication knowledge is beneficial but not mandatory.
