Maintenance Engineer (Mechanical/Electrical)
Seniority Level
To be confirmed, but likely Lead Technician or Senior Engineer at minimum.
Key Responsibilities
- Comply with health, safety, hygiene, and 5S standards at all times, ensuring standards are maintained.
- Review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and learning documents to share best practices across shifts.
- Review safety and maintenance procedures (SWI).
- Develop and maintain a high-performance, flexible, and "can do" culture within the team.
- Attend and participate actively in daily team meetings as a key contributor.
- Comply with all statutory, legal requirements, and industry-specific regulations, including:
- Packaging standards
- Quality assurance
- Food hygiene safety (e.g., HACCP)
- Support the department in achieving KPI targets through structured activities.
- Complete PPMs (Preventive Preventative Maintenance) and reactive tasks diligently.
- Record accurate CMMS system reporting for all work undertaken.
- Drive and support improvement initiatives to ensure the department meets all KPIs (Key Performance Indicators).
- Participate in training for new skills and tasks aligned with Personal Development Plans or as required by management.
- Comply with all documentation and transaction requirements for operational efficiency.

Skills, Knowledge and Experience Required
Essential
- An experienced engineer, qualified in either mechanical or electrical engineering, with:
- Minimum qualification in their core field, such as:
- ONC, C&G, BTEC/NVQ Level 3, degree, or equivalent.
- Minimum qualification in their core field, such as:
- Demonstrates a "can do" attitude and takes pride in quality workmanship.
- Proven expertise in:
- Fault-finding on high-speed production equipment.
- Maintenance of mechanical/electrical systems in production environments.
- Strong knowledge of:
- Manufacturing principles, tools, and techniques.
- Numeracy, literacy, and verbal communication.
- Committed to a high-performance, Continuous Improvement (CI) environment.
- IT literacy with praised for the ability to analyse numerical and technical data.
- Excellent organisation, prioritisation, and initiative.
- Team player with a structured, systematic approach to work.

Desirable (non-essential but highly beneficial)
- Experience in a blue-chip FMCG role, preferably within food or pharma in a high-volume, regulated environment.
- Familiarity with SAP CMMS or similar maintenance-based systems.
- Completion of a recognised steam awareness course with relevant steam system experience.
- Experience with:
- Fault-finding on PLC controlled systems/pneumatic systems.
- Safe working protocols for Ammonia, Carbon Dioxide or CIP (Clean-In-Place) processes.
- Welding (TIG) and limited fabrication experience.
- Working knowledge of:
- PUWER regulations.
- Safety systems.
- ATEX/DSEAR legislation.
