Engineers thrive on the investigative journey of how things work, how they are made, and why they are successful. Robotic repetition in a box-ticking pigeon-hole role isn’t for you; instead, you’re driven by a passion for learning and the pride from progressive problem-solving. This is a Multi-Skilled Engineer Role that empowers you to make a difference, rather than giving you a list of instructions.
Premier Foods is a flagship industry player and own big-name brands such as Bisto, Paxo and Batchelors. In joining us, you’ll be part of an established and progressive business that’s achieved steady financial growth during the past five years and continually invest into our manufacturing sites.
We recognise and embrace the important role Multi-Skilled Engineers play in our Business, understanding, root causing and eliminating issues, not just patching them. You are vital to the continuous improvement journey that optimises machine reliability using creative thinking to understand and put into practice, proactive RCM and CBM principles, working diligently with an eye for detail to execute effective end to end Planned Maintenance.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
