Engineer

Location: Ultrapharm, Pontypool

Shift: 4on4off, Days/Nights rotation (05:00 - 17:00, 17:00 - 05:00)

We are urgently looking for a highly capable Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our Engineering Team at our Pontypool site.

This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-moving, growing food manufacturing business where engineering plays a critical role in operational performance, reliability, and continuous improvement.

We are specifically looking for an engineer with both strong electrical and mechanical capability who can confidently “hit the ground running” in a busy production environment. This role requires someone who is equally comfortable fault-finding electrically as they are carrying out hands-on mechanical maintenance and repairs.

About Us

Finsbury Food Group is a leading specialty bakery manufacturer. We constantly raise quality and efficiency standards and build long-term relationships within the foodservice channel. Finsbury offer a wide range of bakery products and are a leading frozen supplier into the Foodservice sector.

Our Ultrapharm site is a dedicated Gluten Free Bakery specialising in only Gluten Free Product since 1993. The Company’s unique approach to craft and baking creates premium gluten – free products with the flavour and taste of traditional bread. If you have special dietary need or nutritional preferences, then our Pontypool bakery has you covered. Our Products range from artisanal bread to our award winning Hot cross buns and Mince pies for Major Retailers such as M&S and Waitrose.

This is far more than a standard maintenance role.

You’ll become part of a dynamic engineering team where your expertise will directly influence plant performance, downtime reduction, reliability, and continuous improvement activity across the site.

We need someone who can quickly integrate into the team, confidently support production from day one, and bring a proactive, solutions-focused mindset to engineering challenges.

Reasons to use Rodeo

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
