Multi Skilled Engineer – Full-Time (On-Site) | Laser Alarms Limited

Role Overview

This is a full-time, on-site Multi Skilled Engineer position based in Gloucester. The role involves installing, maintaining, and repairing security systems and related equipment, ensuring compliance with company standards and optimal system performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Diagnose faults and resolve system issues in a timely, professional manner
  • Perform preventive maintenance and complete detailed service reports
  • Respond to emergency call-outs with reliability and efficiency
  • Work closely with clients on-site, explaining technical complexities clearly
  • Collaborate with colleagues to plan and execute installations and upgrades
  • Adhere to health and safety protocols
  • Maintain company tools and vehicles
  • Support continuous quality improvements in service delivery

Requirements & Qualifications

Technical Skills & Experience

  • Proven experience in installing, maintaining, and repairing security/electronic systems, including basic electrical and mechanical competencies
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and system documentation
  • Strong proficiency in using diagnostic tools and test equipment
  • Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills
  • Capacity to work independently, manage multiple on-site tasks, and deliver under pressure

  • Clear communication and customer service abilities, including the ability to explain technical matters simply
  • Strong teamwork and collaboration with colleagues and clients
  • Valid driver’s license (clean record) and willingness to travel locally
  • Full commitment to health and safety best practices

Education & Training

  • Relevant vocational training, apprenticeship, or technical qualification in engineering, electrical systems, or security technology (highly beneficial)
  • Previous experience in security systems, building services, or field engineering (advantageous, though transferable skills will be considered)
