Virani Food Products Limited is a growing food manufacturing business committed to delivering high-quality products to customers across the UK. We are seeking a proactive and motivated Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering team and help drive reliability, efficiency, and continuous improvement across our production operations.

The Role

Reporting to the Reliability Manager, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving a wide range of production and packaging equipment within a fast-paced food manufacturing environment. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer who enjoys problem-solving, working with manufacturing equipment, and contributing to business performance through effective maintenance practices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) activities in line with maintenance schedules.
  • Respond promptly to equipment breakdowns and minimise production downtime.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults on manufacturing and packaging equipment.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and performance.
  • Conduct root cause analysis and implement corrective actions.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using the company's CMMS system.
  • Support installation and commissioning of new equipment and machinery.
  • Ensure compliance with food safety, health & safety, and engineering standards.
  • Work collaboratively with Production, Quality, and Operations teams to achieve business objectives.

Skills & Experience Required

Essential

  • Apprentice trained (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent).
  • Multi-skilled maintenance experience within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience with motors, sensors, inverters, conveyors, pneumatics.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings and electrical schematics.
  • Good understanding of health and safety requirements.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Desirable

  • Previous experience in food, FMCG, packaging, or process manufacturing.
  • PLC fault-finding experience.
  • Knowledge of continuous improvement methodologies.
  • 18th Edition qualification.
  • Experience using CMMS software.
