Job Introduction
We are looking for a maintenance engineer to support the production kitchen operation by maintaining all machinery and plant to the highest standards through proactive preventative and reactive maintenance, maximising equipment uptime and ensuring high site standards are consistently maintained.
Role Responsibility
Key Accountabilities
- Maintain excellent levels of service to the production operation.
- To carry out planned maintenance to world-class standards in line with the maintenance plan.
- Ensure all engineering procedures are adhered to, and all work carried out to relevant legislation and guidelines.
- Ensure all work is carried out in a controlled manner in line with the company’s technical procedures.
- Maintain a safe, clean working environment for all members of staff on site.
- Manage contractors if required.
- Cover engineering absence to ensure correct engineering cover is achieved.
- Ensure CMMS maintenance records, engineering documentation, and accurate spare parts stock are completed and kept up to date.

- Maintain production equipment in acceptable working order.
- Minimize time reaction to machinery breakdown.
- Reduce machinery downtime.
- Improve machinery efficiency.
- Support continuous improvement activities and carry out root cause analysis to reduce repeat failures and improve equipment reliability.
- Train operators on new machinery if required.
- Demonstrate a proactive attitude toward maintenance.
- Proactively promote correct use of equipment.
HEALTH AND SAFETY
- Maintain a safe working environment for all people on site in compliance with the company’s and legislative requirements.
- Follow all engineering health and safety procedures.
- Be involved in the health and safety team and carry out health and safety functions as required.
PEOPLE
- Effective communication through formal and informal dealings with operational staff.
- To participate in meetings/trials where engineering input is required.
QUALITY/TECHNICAL STANDARDS
- Maintain machinery in working order that complies with quality and technical requirements.
- Follow technical procedures related to general maintenance on site.
- Work closely with the hygiene team to ensure proper cleaning procedures are followed.
- Proactively improve engineering functions to reduce food safety risk.

NEW PRODUCT DEVELOPMENT
- Assist and support the NFD team with trials and equipment solutions where necessary.
The Ideal Candidate
Experience
- Previous experience of working in a FMG chilled environment.
- Experience of working in a customer-focused environment.
Qualifications
- Mechanical and electrical certificate (NVQ3 or equivalent).
- 17th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification.
- Food production engineering experience.
Skills
- Good communicator.
- Team player.
- IT knowledge.
- Decision maker.
- Logical thinker.
- Electrical and PLC fault-finding experience.
- Able to weld.
