Multi-Skilled Engineer
Location: Northampton Brewery, NN1 1PZ
Job Type:
- Permanent – Full Time
- 42 hours per week

Role Overview
Reporting to the Process Team Leader, the Multi-Skilled Engineer maintains, optimises, and enhances production assets. Teaming up with engineering and production teams, this role ensures safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Key Responsibilities
- System optimisation – Collaborate with engineering teams to enhance performance, reduce downtime, and implement technical improvements.
- Mechanical & electrical maintenance – Diagnose and repair faults using advanced tools and techniques.
- Safety & compliance – Adhere to: Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), electrical safety protocols, and environmental standards; maintain Condition-Based Monitoring (CBM) records.
- Infrastructure support – Maintain site utilities and electrical distribution systems.
- Team collaboration – Partner with production teams, mentor apprentices, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Lean practices – Champion 5S, Kaizen, and Autonomous Maintenance.
- Condition monitoring – Conduct vibrational analysis, thermography, ultrasound, and other predictive maintenance tasks.
Experience & Qualifications
Required:
- Recognised Mechanical Engineering qualification (e.g., HNC/HND, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds or equivalent)
- Industry experience in a multi-skilled maintenance role within FMCG, manufacturing, or industrial environments
- Hands-on CBM experience
- Fluency in spoken and written English
- Valid UK working rights

Desirable:
- Certifications in welding, hydraulics, pneumatics, or rotating machinery
- Experience with CMMS systems
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills and practical troubleshooting expertise
