Multi-Skilled Engineer
Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical Bias)

A C Goatham & Son is one of the UK's leading fruit-growing and produce businesses, operating modern packing, storage and production facilities that support customers nationwide.
We are looking for a skilled and motivated electrically biased Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join our Engineering Team. This is an excellent opportunity to join a growing business where you will play a key role in maintaining, improving and developing site equipment to maximise performance, reliability and efficiency.

What You'll Be Working On
Our engineering team maintains and supports a wide range of production and automation equipment, including:
- Fruit grading equipment
- Flow wrapping machines
- Robotic case packers
- Strappers
- Palletisers
- Conveyors
- Pumps
This role offers excellent exposure to automated production systems, fault finding and continuous improvement projects within a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
What You'll Be Doing
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer, you will support the smooth running of our production and packing operations by ensuring equipment is maintained to the highest standards.
Your responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out planned, preventative and reactive maintenance across site equipment and machinery
- Diagnosing and resolving electrical and mechanical faults quickly and effectively
- Supporting continuous improvement initiatives to reduce downtime and improve equipment reliability
- Working closely with production teams to plan maintenance activities and minimise operational disruption
- Assisting with equipment upgrades, installations and commissioning projects
- Maintaining accurate maintenance records using CMMS systems
- Managing critical spare parts inventory and sourcing replacement components when required
- Ensuring all maintenance activities are completed safely and in accordance with company procedures and health and safety legislation
- Supporting root cause analysis and implementing long-term corrective actions following equipment failures

What We're Looking For
Essential:
- Previous experience as a Multi-Skilled Engineer or Maintenance Engineer within a manufacturing, production, food processing or similar environment
- Strong electrical engineering background with mechanical maintenance capability
- Recognised engineering qualification such as:
- Electrical Apprenticeship
- City & Guilds
- ONC/HNC
- NVQ Level 3
- 18th Edition
- Equivalent engineering qualification
- PLC fault finding and diagnostic experience
- Strong problem-solving and fault-finding skills
- Experience using Computerised Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS)
- Excellent understanding of health and safety requirements
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively across departments

- Experience working within food manufacturing, fresh produce, packaging or automated production environments
- Continuous improvement experience
Working Hours
The role operates on a rotating shift basis, primarily covering:
- 07:00 - 19:00
- 12:00 - 00:00
Some 09:00 - 21:00 shifts may be required during quieter operational periods.
Salary
£57,750 per annum
