Multi Skilled Engineer (Electrical Bias)
Electrically Qualified Multiskilled Maintenance & Service Technician – University of Birmingham Project
Equans is seeking an experienced Electrically Qualified Multiskilled Maintenance & Service Technician to join their on-site team at the University of Birmingham, Pritchatts Park Village Student Accommodation project.
Working hours: Monday to Friday, 08:30–17:00
About the Role
The successful candidate will:
- Hold a valid NVQ electrical qualification (minimum Level 2)
- Have a Following the Ideas 18th Edition Training certificate
- Demonstrate experience in a comparable role
Location: University of Birmingham campus (specific site: Pritchatts Park Village Student Accommodation).
Key Responsibilities
Maintenance & Emergency Response
- Provide reactive maintenance for the student accommodation complex during normal hours
- Cover out-of-hours incidents as part of the on-call rota
Scheduled Tasks
- Quarterly shower head and hose cleaning (compliant with ACOP L8)
- Monthly temperature monitoring of hot and cold water systems
- Weekly flushing of water outlets in unoccupied rooms
- Weekly fire alarm testing
- Conduct regular visual inspections of building fabric, furniture, fixtures, and fittings
Safety & Compliance
- Work in adherence to Work Instructions, Safe Working Practices, and Method Statements
- Ensure accurate and timely paperwork is completed

Requirements
Essential
- Demonstrable experience in a comparable maintenance or service role
- **Min. NVQ Level 2 (or equivalent) electrical qualification
- Valid UK driving license
- Physically fit (requires walking across large sites)

- Working knowledge of ACOP L8 (Building Water Services)
- Computer proficiency with strong organisational and administrative skills
- Ability to work self-directed, meet tight deadlines, or follow instruction
