Multi-skilled Engineer
Engineering Technician (Multiskilled)
Location: Corby Salary: £61,000 per annum Hours: Monday–Friday (rotating shifts)
A well-established food manufacturing site in Corby is seeking a multi-skilled Engineering Technician to join its maintenance team. This is an ideal hands-on role for an experienced Mechanical or Electrical engineer who thrives in a fast-paced, high-standards manufacturing environment.
About the Role
You’ll play a vital role in maintaining day-to-day production equipment across the site, ensuring operations run safely and reliably. Collaborating closely with the Senior Engineer and maintenance team, you’ll execute planned and reactive maintenance, troubleshoot faults, and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
- Execute preventative maintenance (PM) and reactive repairs on all site machinery and equipment
- Diagnose and resolve faults in HMIs, PLCs, DCS, and SCADA systems
- Conduct instrument calibrations as required
- Log all maintenance tasks, root causes, and spares usage in the CMMS
- Review contractor RAMS (Risk Assessments & Method Statements) and approve permits-to-work
- Uphold safe systems of work, completing dynamic risk assessments when needed
- Support production teams in keeping equipment operational and efficient
- Maintain cleanliness, organisation, and safety in maintenance areas
- Participate in continuous improvement (CI) projects to reduce downtime and repair cycles

Requirements
Essential
- Qualified Multi-skilled Engineer (Mechanical or Electrical bias) with City & Guilds Level 3 or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant discipline
- Experience troubleshooting HMIs, PLCs, DCS, or SCADA faults
- Competence in instrument calibration
- Familiarity with CMMS tools for preventative/predictive maintenance
- Food industry experience, particularly with hygienic equipment
Desirable
- HNC or HND in a related engineering discipline
- NEBOSH or IOSH Managing Safety certification
- 17th/18th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (Electrical engineering focus)
- CompEx certifications (EX01-EX06 preferred)
- Experience managing contractors
- Knowledge of ETP/CHP systems

Shift & On-Call Arrangements
This role operates on a rotating shift pattern, totaling an average 37.5 hours per week. Shifts include:
- Day shifts: 6am–2pm, 8am–4pm, or 2pm–10pm (weekdays)
- Overnight shift: 10pm–6am (Sunday to Thursday nights)
On-call duties apply: one weekend per month (10pm Friday–10pm Sunday).
