Description
To proactively undertake site engineering and maintenance to positive outcome that fulfils the needs of the department and business.
Key Responsibilities
Main Responsibilities
- To comply with all health, safety and environmental procedures & legislation
- Ensure knowledge of the daily work schedule at the start of each shift.
- Report all machine/activity defects as they occur; in line with the defect reporting system to site management.
- Assist with the planning of future maintenance schedules for all production equipment to ensure that standards and process capabilities are maintained
- Assist in the development of preventative maintenance, effective implementation and evaluation of such systems
- Maintenance, inspections and lubrication of all plant and process equipment.
- Undertaking prestart inspections for day & night shifts with others in the engineering team
- Carry out equipment safety checks.
- Fault finding and problem-solving concerning; pneumatic, hydraulic, electrical and PLC equipment
- Carry out mechanical and electrical maintenance to ensure plant efficiency if suitably trained.
- Carry out welding and fabrication works as required.
- Undertake routine maintenance inspections and any planned preventative maintenance work including installation work and continuous improvement, some of which will be out of standard hours as overtime.
- Read and create technical plans and drawings to assist with reactive and preventative maintenance
- Ensure that all work both scheduled and un-scheduled is completed to a high standard and in a timely manner
- Completion of necessary reporting systems; relating to current, ongoing and future maintenance work
- Involvement in project work

Policy Compliance
- To be aware of cleanliness within your work and communal areas and that the ‘Clean as you go’ statement is enforced
- Maintain confidentiality with regard to all aspects of Company, personal and Customer information
- Ensure that all Corporate and Site Policies, Procedures and associated work activities are undertaken safely
- Health and Safety documentation is adhered to and assist in their review where required to include risk assessments and safe systems of work.
Monitoring
- Monitor all equipment for damage, wear and tear highlighting any issues to line management.
- Assist other members of the team and provide continuous support in order to maintain plant machinery and prevent or repair breakdowns
- Monitor stock levels of necessary components to ensure availability when required
- Monitor efficiency of plant machinery in line with the engineering plan
Communication
- Maintain effective communication with Seniors, Peers and other staff internal and external to the organisation
- Maintain effective communication with all customers; to include clear interpretation and response to spoken requests, verbal/written instructions and all relevant queries
- Follow site communication protocols.
- Attend relevant meetings as required to discuss work related developments or issues.
Additional
- Work within the key objectives and performance indicators required within your job role and department
- To provide cover where necessary for direct colleagues and other departments and sites within the Group Companies as required.
- Be responsible for personal development needs, undertaking training where necessary to fulfil and progress skills within the job role.
- To recommend and identify any improvements associated to work activities/the department area
- To undertake any reasonable requests made to meet the business needs of the company
- Report any accidents, incidents, damage, and near misses to site management that occur or observed.
- Out of hours call out breakdown cover on a rota basis with others in the maintenance team if and when required and agreed with management
