At ESG Drysdale, we’re looking for a Multi-Skilled Engineer to join our engineering team at our modern vegetable washing, grading, and packing facility in Cockburnspath. You’ll work with a wide range of machinery, solve real technical challenges, and play an important part in keeping a busy production site running safely and efficiently.
With a starting salary of £47,000, the opportunity to progress to £57,000 through our structured training programme, plus overtime paid on top, this is a strong package for an engineer who wants both immediate reward and long-term career development.

- Carrying out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) across site machinery and equipment.
- Responding to breakdowns and diagnosing mechanical and electrical faults.
- Supporting installation projects, upgrades, and site improvements.
- Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance reliability and efficiency.
- Working across a diverse range of vegetable washing, grading, packing, and processing equipment.
This is a varied role where no two days are the same, making it ideal for engineers who enjoy fault finding, practical problem-solving, and seeing the impact of their work every day.
What We’re Looking For
We’re keen to hear from engineers who are:
- Qualified Multi-Skilled Engineers, ideally with a strong electrical background.
- Experienced in manufacturing, food production, FMCG, or similar industrial environments.
- Skilled in fault finding, diagnostics, and problem-solving.
- Motivated, proactive, and committed to delivering high engineering standards.
- Eager to learn and develop their skills as part of a supportive team.
Desirable Qualifications
- Electrical qualification.
- 18th Edition Wiring Regulations certification.
- Food manufacturing experience.

Pay, Benefits And Progression
- ✅ Starting salary from £47,000 per year
- ✅ Progression to £57,000 per year through our structured in-house training and development programme
- ✅ Overtime paid on top of salary, giving you the opportunity to further increase your earnings

- ✅ 21.5 days annual leave (236.5 hours)
Working Pattern
- 4 on, 4 off shift rotation
- Day shift: 6:00am – 6:00pm
- Seasonal back shift (Autumn, Winter & Spring): 12:00pm – 12:00am
- One annual night-shift rotation during December (approximately three weeks)
