Job Title: Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer

Salary: £DOE
We are recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established engineering organisation supporting a portfolio of secure and technically advanced facilities across Scotland. The Role
As a Multi-Skilled Facilities Maintenance Engineer, you'll be responsible for maintaining mechanical and electrical building services to ensure operational continuity across several locations. You'll carry out both planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance, helping to keep facilities safe, compliant and operating efficiently.
Key Responsibilities

- Maintain HVAC systems, plant equipment, plumbing and general building services.
- Complete compliance activities including Legionella monitoring, emergency lighting checks and site readiness tasks.
- Undertake minor electrical works, including lighting maintenance, fault finding and testing.
- Travel between multiple sites across Scotland to diagnose and resolve maintenance issues.
- Support standby generator systems and participate in an on-call rota when required.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?
Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.
Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
