Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer (Electrical)

Maintenance Engineer – Multi-Skilled (Electrical Focus)

Location

THG Labs, Commerce Park, Cornbrash, Frome BA11 2FN

Shift Pattern

Rotating shifts covering 6am – 2:15pm or 2pm – 10:15pm, 8.15 hours per day, averaging 41.25 hours per week.

About the Role

We’re seeking a proactive and versatile Maintenance Engineer with expertise in electrical systems and mechanical understanding to join our high-performance engineering team. The ideal candidate will ensure the reliability of our production and site equipment, minimising downtime and maintaining peak operational efficiency.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on:
    • Electrical and mechanical systems
    • Conveyors, motors, control panels, and automated machinery
  • Diagnose electrical faults—repairs must comply with safety standards and manufacturer guidelines
  • Support continuous improvement projects, enhancing equipment reliability and performance
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records using the company’s CMMS system
  • Ensure compliance with Safety, Environmental, and Quality (SEQ) standards
  • Provide technical support and actively collaborate with production and operational teams

Requirements

Essential:

  • A time-served apprenticeship or relevant qualification:
    • NVQ Level 3
    • ONC or HNC in Electrical or Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineering
  • Proven experience in a similar maintenance engineering role, ideally within:
    • Manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environments
  • Strong electrical fault-finding skills, including expertise in:
    • PLCs, sensors, drives, and control systems
  • Basic mechanical skills with knowledge of:
    • Bearings, pneumatics, and hydraulics
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and schematics
  • Exceptional problem-solving abilities and attention to detail
  • Flexible, team-oriented, and capable of independent work under pressure

Preferred:

  • 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations qualification
  • Experience with automated systems, robotics, or packaging machinery
  • Knowledge of lean maintenance techniques, such as:
    • TPM (Total Productive Maintenance)
    • Kaizen
    • 5S methodology
