Location: THG Labs, Commerce Park, Cornbrash, Frome, BA11 2FN Shift Pattern: Rotating shifts – 6:00am to 2:15pm or 2:00pm to 10:15pm (8.15 hours per shift, 41.25 hours per week)

About the Role
We’re seeking a proactive and versatile Maintenance Engineer with electrical expertise and strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills to join our fast-paced engineering team. As a multi-skilled engineer, you’ll ensure reliable machinery and minimal downtime, ensuring maximum operational efficiency across production systems.

Key Responsibilities

Conduct planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive maintenance on:
- Conveyor systems
- Electric motors
- Control panels
- Automated machinery

Diagnose and repair electrical faults, adhering to safety regulations and manufacturer specifications.

Assess and report on equipment performance, supporting continuous improvement projects.

Maintain precise maintenance records within our CMMS system (Computerised Maintenance Management System).

Monitor compliance with Health & Safety, environmental, and quality standards.

Collaborate with production and operations teams, providing technical expertise.
Requirements
Essential Criteria
✅ Qualifications:
- Time-served apprenticeship or relevant engineering qualification (e.g., NVQ Level 3, Ordinary National Certificate in Engineering, Higher National Certificate).
✅ Experience:
- Proven track record in a similar role within manufacturing, FMCG, or industrial environments.
✅ Technical Competencies:

Strong electrical fault-finding and diagnostic skills, including:
- Proficiency with PLCs, sensors, drives, and control systems.
- Basic mechanical knowledge (e.g., bearings, pneumatics, hydraulics).
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.

Problem-solving attitude, attention to detail, and strong analytical skills.
✅ Personal Traits:
- Flexible, team-oriented, and comfortable working independently under pressure.
Desirable
🔹 18th Edition IET Wiring Regulations certification. 🔹 Experience with automated systems, robotics, or packaging machinery. 🔹 Knowledge of lean maintenance and continuous improvement methodologies (e.g., TPM, Kaizen, 5S).
