Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative
Location: Across Lancashire - covering all six Active Pathways services and Evermore Care Homes sites in Chorley, Bamber Bridge, Fulwood, and Lancaster
Contract Type: Full-Time - 37.5 hours per week
Fixed-Term Contract (6 months)
Salary: £32,000 per annum, with overtime paid at £16.41 per hour

We are expanding our Facilities & Maintenance team and are looking for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative who can bring adaptability, technical competence, and a proactive approach to maintaining our buildings, equipment, and grounds.
This role will suit somebody who has experience within a complex care environment and who can evidence either well-rounded, multi-trade maintenance skills or a strong development journey across a range of specialist maintenance areas.

About The Role
As a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Operative, you’ll play a vital role in maintaining safe, compliant, and high-quality environments across our sites. You’ll respond to day-to-day maintenance needs, deliver planned preventative work, and support small projects — ensuring our buildings remain well-presented and fully functional for staff, service users, and visitors. Planned & Reactive Maintenance
- Carrying out daily, weekly, and monthly PPM tasks.
- Responding promptly to maintenance requests and resolving faults efficiently.
- Diagnosing and addressing basic electrical, plumbing, joinery, and building-fabric issues.
Multi-Trade General Repairs
- Completing varied repairs and practical tasks across multiple disciplines.
- Supporting refurbishment work and small improvement projects.
- Undertaking decorating, fixtures/fittings installations, and general building upkeep.
Building Safety & Compliance
- Conducting routine H&S checks, fire safety tests, and compliance record-keeping.
- Identifying hazards and taking corrective actions to maintain a safe environment.
Contractor & Team Support
- Assisting with contractor inductions and coordinating on-site activity.
- Working across multiple sites and collaborating with wider operational teams.
- Contributing to a safe, positive, and well-maintained environment for staff and service users.
About You
We’re looking for someone who brings technical breadth, not just depth in a single trade. You'll thrive in this role if you have:
Essential
- Experience working across multiple maintenance disciplines (e.g., basic electrical, plumbing, HVAC checks, joinery, grounds, building fabric).
- A strong problem-solving mindset and confidence working independently.
- A willingness and ability to work across different sites.
- Good communication skills and a customer-focused approach.
Desirable
- Demonstrable career progression, training, or CPD showing you are developing multi-trade capability.
- Experience in settings such as residential care, housing, facilities management, education, or similar environments.
- An interest in upskilling further — we actively support ongoing development.
