Multi Skilled Operative
Job Title: Multi-Skilled Operative (HS2 Project)
Location: Cubbington, Warwickshire CV32 7UH Salary: £17.60 – £26.54 per hour + PAYE Employment Type: Full-Time Reports To: Site Supervisor / Construction Manager
Job Purpose
The Multi-Skilled Operative will support the delivery of works across the HS2 project by undertaking a diverse range of construction, maintenance, and site support activities. The role demands a flexible, safety-conscious individual capable of working across multiple trades, adapting to variable site demands while upholding high standards of quality, safety, and environmental compliance.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform construction and civil engineering tasks, including:
- Groundworks
- Steelfixing
- Shuttering
- Concreting
- Drainage
- Fencing
- Minor carpentry
- General site maintenance
- Operate hand and power tools safely and efficiently
- Support plant operators, engineers, and specialist contractors as required
- Conduct excavation support, duct installation, kerbing, and paving
- Install/reinstate temporary works, barriers, and site protection measures
- Carry out routine equipment and work area inspections, reporting issues promptly
- Promote environmental protection and sustainability initiatives
- Maintain a clean, safe, and organised working environment
- Adhere to project procedures, risk assessments, and method statements
- Attend toolbox talks, safety briefings, and training sessions
- Support emergency response and incident reporting protocols
- Work collaboratively with team members, subcontractors, and site management

Health, Safety & Environmental Responsibilities
- Fully comply with HS2, client, and company health & safety standards
- Wear and maintain appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE)
- Report unsafe conditions, near misses, or incidents immediately
- Adhere to environmental regulations and site controls
- Foster a positive safety culture and contribute to improvement initiatives
Essential Requirements
✔ Previous experience in construction, civil engineering, infrastructure, or rail projects ✔ Valid CSCS Card ✔ Strong understanding of health and safety regulations ✔ Ability to operate a range of construction tools and equipment ✔ Excellent communication and teamwork skills ✔ Reliable, flexible, and adaptable to a fast-paced environment ✔ Full UK driving licence (preferred)
Desirable Qualifications
✅ CPCS or NPORS certification ✅ Experience from major infrastructure projects
