Multi-Skilled Operative (Carpenter)

Based in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire
Permanent, full-time, 37 hours per week
Salary: £35,327 - £39,252

We have an exciting opportunity for two customer-focused carpentry or multi-skilled professionals with multi-trade backgrounds to join our dedicated organisation.

In these roles, you’ll work in and around our customers’ homes to ensure our properties are maintained to a high standard. Covering a range of maintenance duties, you’ll repair and replace doors and windows, rehand timber and garage doors, install fences, conduct locksmithing, repair staircases, handrails, floors and kitchen units and maintain and replenish your van stock. Liaising with a range of customers, you’ll ensure a first-class service every time.

We’re looking for candidates with…

  • Experience in a carpentry or multi-skilled role
  • Strong multi-trade experience
  • Comprehensive experience in UPVC and/or composite door and window maintenance
  • Health and Safety training
  • A full, valid driving licence

Please note, this role may involve lifting and moving heavy objects, tools and materials, as well as working in confined spaces and at heights.

You will also be required to have a basic criminal record (DBS) check, which we will pay for.

We’re a social business, based in Turnford and across southeast Hertfordshire, helping local people by renting or selling affordable homes. We offer services designed to help our customers live comfortably in their homes, and we work to keep our buildings and estates maintained, offering support when money becomes an issue or when people get older. Our mission is to make a sustainable, positive change to the housing crisis for our customers and communities.

I’m in my final year doing Economics and I don’t know whether to apply for grad schemes now or do a masters first. What do you think?

Honest answer — it depends on where you want to end up. A lot of top grad schemes (Big 4, civil service, banking) don’t need a masters. Let’s look at the ones you’d be competitive for now, and we can decide if a masters actually adds anything.

Also worth knowing: most autumn 2026 applications are open now. Timing matters more than you think.

Start with a chat, not a search bar

Grad scheme, placement, apprenticeship? Not sure what you want yet — that's fine. Your agent talks it through with you and turns "I have no idea" into a shortlist.
