Join our Estates team and contribute to facilities maintenance, infrastructure support, and electrical compliance— ensuring critical defence operations remain safe and operational.
Full training and development are provided, including funding for City & Guilds 2377 Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) qualification, establishing a pathway for career growth.
The Role
As a Multi-Skilled Operative – Electrical Compliance, you’ll deliver multi-skilled support across estate compliance and maintenance, ensuring buildings, systems, and equipment remain safe, operational, and compliant. This hands-on role offers exposure to varied maintenance disciplines while developing technical skills in a supportive environment.
Your day-to-day responsibilities will include:
- Carrying out portable appliance testing (PAT) and residual current device (RCD) testing across the estate.
- Conducting fire alarm and emergency lighting inspections and testing.
- Supporting tradespeople in planned maintenance, repairs, and defect rectification.
- Assisting with identifying infrastructure, equipment, and system defects to ensure operational availability.
- Work safely following health and safety legislation, Safe Systems of Work, and company procedures.

This is a 36-hour per week, site-based role at HM Naval Base Clyde.
Essential Skills & Experience
To excel in this role, you should have:
- Experience in supporting preventative maintenance activities.
- Knowledge of identifying and resolving equipment, infrastructure, or system defects.
- Background in a facilities, estates, maintenance, engineering, or operational environment.
- Strong understanding of safe working practices and health and safety requirements.
- Ability to collaborate and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives.
Qualifications & Desirables
Essential
- Demonstrable aptitude for maintenance, compliance, or estates-related activities.
Desirable
- Knowledge of fire alarm systems.
- Understanding of statutory compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with COSHH, risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work.
- Full UK Driving Licence.
- Understanding of emergency lighting systems.
Security Clearance
The role requires a sole UK National who can achieve and maintain a Security Check (SC) clearance. Applicants must be eligible based on nationality, residency history, and compliance with UK security vetting conditions.
