Compensation: £29,658 (coding, monthly review to £34,419 upon qualification)

At Babcock, we’re working to create a safe and secure world, together. For this opportunity as a Multi-Skilled Operative – Electrical Compliance at HM Naval Base Clyde, Helensburgh, you’ll:
- Maintain a safe, compliant, and operationally effective estate
- Play a vital role in defence infrastructure
- Access full training and development, including funding for City & Guilds 2377 Portable Appliance Testing (PAT) qualification

Key Responsibilities
As a Multi-Skilled Operative, you’ll support multi-skilled maintenance and compliance functions across facilities, electrical safety, and infrastructure. Daily duties include:
- Conducting portable appliance testing (PAT) and residual current device (RCD) on site equipment
- Performing inspections and testing of fire alarm and emergency lighting systems
- Supporting planned maintenance, repairs, and defect rectification by conductive technical staff
- Identifying infrastructure, equipment, or system defects to ensure operational readiness
- Adhering to health and safety legislation, Safe Systems of Work, and Babcock’s security protocols
Hours: 36 hours per week, on-site at HM Naval Base Clyde.

Experience Required
- Multi-skilled maintenance: Support of planned preventative maintenance
- Defect management: Identification and resolution of equipment, infrastructure, or system issues
- Facilities/estates experience: Working within facilities, estates, maintenance, or engineering environments
- Safety compliance: Understanding and adherence to health and safety best practices
- Team collaboration: Ability to work seamlessly in a multidisciplinary team
Qualifications
- Essential: Demonstrated aptitude in maintenance, compliance, or estates-related activities
- Desirable:
- Practical knowledge: Hands-on experience with fire alarm systems or emergency lighting
- Statutory compliance: Awareness of legal standards in workplace safety
- Health & safety: Familiarity with COSHH (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health), risk assessments, and Safe Systems of Work
- Full UK driving licence
Security Clearance Requirements
- Successful candidates must be sole UK nationals
- Must be capable of achieving and maintaining a Security Check (SC) security clearance as stipulated by the UK’s national security standards
